IRS Launches Registration Tool for Economic Impact Payments

The IRS today launched a tool for those who are not required to file a tax return to register to receive their stimulus payment.

Although companies such as Turbo Tax have been advertising their own portals, be aware that they are simply linking to the IRS site. The tool itself is ONLY AVAILABLE ON IRS.GOV.

When you access, look for the button that says "Non-Filers: Enter Payment Info Here"

You will need to provide the following information:

  • Full name, current mailing address and an email address

  • Date of birth and social security number

  • Bank account number, type and routing number, if you have one

  • Identity Protection Personal Identification Number (IP PIN) you received from the IRS earlier this year, if you have one

  • Driver’s license or state-issued ID, if you have one

  • For each qualifying child: name, Social Security number or Adoption Taxpayer Identification Number and their relationship to you or your spouse

The IRS is also working on a 2nd portal for taxpayers to provide their direct deposit information and to check on the status of their payment. It is expected to be available by April 17, 2020. Unfortunately, if your Economic Impact Payment has already been scheduled for deliver, you will not be able to change your information.

Things are happening at a dizzying pace and the above information could change at any time. We will continue to monitor the situation and let you know when there are any updates.
